Travelling from New York to Boston
It was Valentines Day and it was really, really cold. Our Bolt Bus was delayed by more than an hour and there wasn’t any terminal in Manhattan so we had to wait more than an hour in the cold. A lot of people were upset that it was getting late, especially the other half of couples from Boston.
What should have been a 4 hour bus trip became 6 and a half hours. The snow was so strong that the bus was barely moving for safety purposes. The good thing was that since the bus had Wi-Fi, the guys and I were able to book our hotel for our trip in Washington,DC the next week and that we could finally sleep off the jet lag.
Luckily, we ate a lot of McDonalds chicken nuggets and fries before the road trip so we didn’t die of hunger.
It was strange because I’ve only known these guys for a few days but I honestly feel like we’ve known each other for such a long time already. I kind of understand how Filipinos tend to cling to each other abroad. I’ve only been away a few days and just being able to speak Tagalog is already comforting.
We got to the Ritz Carlton a little before the program ended. It was a bit sad because we weren’t really able to meet the other delegates in time. We missed out on a great opportunity there, since the first day is when people usually try to talk to as many people as possible and the best time to make friends.
But I guess it all turned okay, because seeing Cambridge for the first time, covered in fresh white snow on a cold February evening was something worth the trip.
