Power Electric Spinning at Electric Studio

PoweFounded in 2015, Electric Studio is credited to be the first indoor cycling studio boutique in the Philippines. Similar to the New York based, cult fitness studio SoulCycle, it carries a similar energy.

Leading the rise of boutique fitness studios in Metro Manila, they rode their way to a new kind of fitness experience for everyone else in the city. Electric Studio has three branches in all the major business districts – Pasig, BGC and Makati. I particularly love how they’re all near my favourite coffee shops and places to work.

Unfortunately, unlike Saddle Row and Ride Revolution, they aren’t available on ClassPass. When I found out that they had a Php 1000 for 5 session first timer promo, I decided to give them a try (and dragged my two sisters with me).

The Facilities

While I’ve only tried their Salcedo and BGC branches, I think they have one of if not the best facilities among boutique fitness studios. With their class rates, spinning shoes, toiletries, towels for the workout and the shower are included. They even have free sanitary pads and hair ties for emergencies!

The studios are all bright and happy, complete with the fancy lockers that I keep forgetting how to use. I have to say that I made a friend or two when we were trying to find where we left our bags.

My Pure Electric Experience

For my first class, I went to Jam’s Pure Electric class at Tuesday, 7:15pm. It was probably the most intense class I’ve taken across all boutique indoor spinning studios in Metro Manila!

As I mentioned in a previous post, spinning is known to be a great calorie burning, low impact workout that is known to be burn anywhere from 400 to 600 calories per class. Her class was around 600 for me. The energy, the crowd and the music was great.

One of my favorite indoor cycling classes that I’ve taken so far was another Pure Electric class at 12:15pm by Kris at their Salcedo Branch. She was just recovering from a surgery and had an instructor in training joining her. It was my first double ride so the energy from the instructors were A+.

It was probably the most engaging and somehow inspirational ride I’ve ever been on. I think it’s because when she was shouting things like “Don’t let one bad thing that happened you ruin every good thing you have in your life,” she sounded like she meant them.

I also really enjoy their lunch time weekday workouts, like this one with Armand below, because the crowd is obviously made of people who love their fitness enough to squeeze in sessions in between their day jobs.

Overall, I found the classes consistently intense with great music, with just the right amount of lights to not be distracting. I definitely enjoyed my time with Team Electric and I’m looking forward to going back for my spin fix every now and then.
