Jim Beam Highball Pop Up Bar at Eastwood Mall

I find it funny how I recently put on my Bumble Bizz profile that I’m a seasonal day drinker and then I somehow, like the universe is conspiring to keep me a happy, relaxed and seasonally intoxicated person, I was invited to the Jim Beam High Ball Pop Up Bar at Eastwood Central Plaza from November 12 – 16 from 6pm to 12pm. I missed their first high ball pop up bar last year at BGC, but I heard it was great and that I definitely shouldn’t miss this one.

Being that I was going to be in the area anyway with Tipsy Tales just at the Fourth Floor of Eastwood Mall and that since my time working at Globe and having happy hour highballs at Chotto Matte, I could not resist the call of Jim Beam’s new Filipino-inspired High Balls. We were treated to a combination of their Signature Classic High Ball with the taste of our local flavours like Yuzu and Lemongrass, Calamansi and Pandan, Pineapple and Basil and Mango Spice (plus their famous Lychee)!

Other than the drinks, there were live performances by some of our iconic local artists from Ebe Dancel, The Juans, Clara Benin, Better Days and The Vowels they Orbit. I was able to catch Ebe Dencel while chugging my own Lychee drink at the bar. Classy.

After you buy a drink, they give you tokens you can use to play with their Claw Machine and Highball Ping Pong. I wish I could tell you I was one of those people who win things at these kinds of games when they’ve had a drink or two but I’m not. I didn’t win anything, but I still had fun!

I’d like to thank She Guinto of shescapade.com who I coincidentally invited a week beforehand to watch Lambana: Immersive Folklore Experience and kind enough to be my designated photographer for the night! I also met a lot of interesting content creators.

Jim Beam is a brand under Beam Suntory, Inc., founded in 2014 when a top bourbon maker and a pioneer Japanese whisky decided to take the world by storm, combining both the drive for innovation while still being rooted in tradition, quality and heritage. From the Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark, Knob Creek, Basil Hayden’s and Legent bourbon and the Suntory whisky Kakubin, Courvoisier cognac, Yamazaki, Hakushu, Hibiki and Toki Japanese whisky; Teacher’s, Laphroaig and Bowmore Scotch whisky; Canadian Club whisky; Hornitos and Sauza tequila; EFFEN, Haku and Pinnacle vodka; Sipsmith and Roku gin; and Midori liqueur.

When I finally got out of my college student “get drunk for as cheap as possible” phase and was thrust into the adult world of good wine, whisky and craft beer, I’ve had many memorable nights with Hibiki and Yamazaki, so this is a company I can definitely get behind on the taste of their drinks and how they really do inspire human connection.

I had an interesting night and look forward to see more cool, fun and engaging activations from Jim Bean in the future! For now, I’ll be trying to recreate those highballs at home.
