How do you make the most out of your ClassPass Philippines membership?
If you’ve already decided that ClassPass Philippines is worth a try, then your next step should be making the most out of the ClassPass Philippines experience. Here’s a quick guide on ways I’ve found you can make the best out of your ClassPass membership!
1. PLAN YOUR WORKOUTS AT LEAST A WEEK IN ADVANCE
While ClassPass has a myriad of studios under its belt, its top partners often have limited slots and slowly the growing user base is making it harder and harder to book their classes.
If you have a lot of limitations for your usage, such as the classes have to be after office hours and within a certain geographic location near where you live and work to avoid traffic, you have to both time when you book and know where to book ahead of time. While it’s not as often, the same class can also cost more credits on the same day, rather than if you book it days in advance.
It’s good to research in advance all the studios you are interested in that fits your needs so you’re aware of their regular class times and average number of credits that they need. Planning ahead also helps you ratio your credits properly so you’ll have enough for all the classes you want to take!
2. KNOW WHEN YOUR PREFERRED STUDIOS OPEN UP THEIR SLOTS
To maximise your workout plan, you need to research on the app all the studios you can track when they open up their slots weekly so you know the best time to book.
Each fitness studio will have a schedule whether that’s weekly or monthly when they release their slots. This is different per studio, but there are two ways you can tell:
A. There is a certain day where you can see the slots far ahead of time (often a week) but they can’t be booked. Below is an example from Saddle Row – BGC, wherein on January 21, Tuesday there are often a lot of available slots but the next day January 22, Wednesday, everything is blocked. It’s then likely that they release their new slots on Tuesday.
B. It says “No Class Found” the day after. Below is an example from Ride Revolution’s new Kerry’s Sports branch in BGC. They have available slots on January 20, Monday but every day after that is “No Class Found”. This means that it’s likely they release their new slots on Monday. There was one time, however, when this didn’t work for me because the studio I was waiting to book for, F45, had decided to leave ClassPass Philippines and no longer offered more slots after a certain period.
Take note that these are not fixed dates and every few months, the schedule for releasing changes for different studios and you’ll have to observe them regularly!
3. CHECK AT THE 12 HOUR MARK FOR CLASSES THAT ARE OFTEN FULLY BOOKED.
Sometimes, you’re lucky enough to know changes in schedules early enough to cancel a class without the Php 300 penalty. Or you don’t realize how sore you are from a workout and have another one booked the day after that you need to pass on to recover. Either way, a lot of people rush cancel classes they’ve changed their mind on right before the 12 hour window before you get penalized. If you’ve been eye-ing a class for a while but haven’t been able to book, this is one of the best time to check again.
4. BEFORE YOU CANCEL A CLASS, CHECK IF IT COSTS LESS CREDITS THAN YOUR CANCELLATION FEE.
Many studios don’t actually make an effort to report when someone doesn’t show up, mostly because they still get paid for it. While it’s often cheaper to just say you missed the class and lose Php 300 (or whatever the value is in your country) and get the credits back that you can use for other activities, classes that are 3 credits or less (they exist!) are cheaper to just not report.
This isn’t foolproof though as some studios to meticulously report when someone doesn’t show up and app often asks you to rate your previous class. As much as possible, don’t do this and just show up!
5. MIX AND MATCH YOUR FAVOURITE WORKOUTS ACROSS STUDIOS.
It’s not a secret that if you keep going to the same studios within the same credit billing period, ClassPass will start charging you more credits for it. According to their forums, they start charging you more at around the 3x mark. While I don’t necessarily think this is a good move on their part as it turns off customers from using the service, the best way to go around this is actually be willing to try out variations of your favorite workout across different studios.
People who will find this easy will actually be those who prefer fitness activities where ClassPass has a lot of partners in such as Yoga, where you can find around 8 studios such as Bikram Yoga, Yoga Plus, Yoga Hive and more, within walking distance of the Ayala Triangle. For those who love Indoor Cycling, the Ortigas area has the most number of studios within walking distance offering it – UpperDeck Lifestyle Center, CycleHouse at the Padilla Building, Ride Revolution in Shangri-La and Gold’s Gym & Rave Studio at Ayala the 30th.
I try to mix up my workouts through putting recovery classes like Yoga in between hard workouts like boxing and HIIT, which allows me to space out the studios I want to work out regularly in!
