Graduating from Pisay: The Road Less Travelled

Today, after four of the most difficult years of my life, I finally got to march down the red carpet, get my diploma (or a blank paper sheet that’s supposed to signify it), and say that I am finally an alumni of the most prestigious high school for the math and sciences in the Philippines: Philippine Science High School.

It has been difficult, and I cant really put into words how the whole experience had made me change into so much of the person I am today.  But I can say that I’m incredibly thankful, and blessed to have made it this far.

All those days when our threshold for failure was pushed to the limit, and the temptation to give up was greater than it was the day before it, and all those times that each and every morning was a personal struggle to move on from all the bad things, and be thankful for the simple ones that come along our way, they were worth it.

And when I had entered the gates for the first time four years ago, I did not expect the ingenious peers, inspirational teachers, stressful exams, sleepless nights, heart-wrenching failure, heartbreaking and fulfilling experiences that made me who I am today. Each mistake a new lesson, and each day a new challenge.

I know that it seems like the end, and that it hasn’t completely sunk in yet that we’ll never really walk down the halls of the PSHS-Main Campus the same way. But it’s only the beginning of a brand new adventure.
