Baker’s Hill
Baker’s Hill has long been the staple pasalubong center for everyone going in and out of Puerto Princesa. They began as a small bakery known for their hopia, yema and choco munchies. My personal favorite is their ube hopia cooked in pork oil (Php50 for a box with 10 pieces) and the choco crinkles (Php 40 for 28 pieces). One of the best things about their bakery is that they cook their hopia in either pork or vegetable oil, so your muslim friends can enjoy the taste without the guilt!
When you’re done with your pasalubong shopping, you can go on over to the quirky park with free entrance. It’s great for families with small kids because they’ll get to enjoy the playground, wildlife like the peacocks and picturesque areas.
The area is filled with souvenir shops and Americanized local food. There are clean bathrooms, good views and you can legitimately do all your gift shopping in one place.
I think it was my baby sister that enjoyed this place the most. She was pretending to be Princess Jasmine and played with Rajah. I would think that this is a good place to leave your kids while you do last minute shopping.
I was running with a bit of a fever when we went here but even I enjoyed the Shrek tree house. I would definitely drop by here again to relax at the end of a trip!
