About Quina Baterna

A graduate of BFA Information Design from the Ateneo de Manila University, I found my footing in Ateneo as a lover of many things. I joined several organizations and basically tried everything that I even found remotely interesting. I was a varsity pistol shooter for the Ateneo Rifle Pistol Team (ARPT), had a period of exploration as an artist (with my first art exhibit in New York) and actor, as part of improv group called “MAIS” and playing “Matt” in the Southeast Asian premier of Matt & Ben.

Getting Into Development Work

After a year of doing graphic design and another year being the VP for marketing, I unexpectedly became the Co-President of  180 Degrees Consulting Philippines. We would recruit students from the Philippine’s top universities and match them with NGOs and social enterprises that needed help.

So far, I’ve had a pretty colorful career! Starting with internships with the UN-accredited NGO, the World Youth Alliance in Asia Pacific and New York, where I learned a lot about defending human dignity on a global scale.

A Dip Into Corporate Life

I was a management trainee in the Philippines’ leading telco where was rotated around four departments (Consumer Marketing, Broadband, Customer Experience Design and Product Management) in one year. I also worked with Human Resources on recruiting new employees, hosting events and helping out their purposeful initiatives.

Afterwards, I also worked as Marketing Associate with Wavemaker Partners, an early stage venture capital firm based in Singapore. During this time, I helped plan events for founders and investors in Southeast Asia, startups in portfolio get featured on international publications, and managed the company PR and social media channels.

Entrepreneurship

One of my proudest works so far was being the Co-Founder of Tipsy Tales. We produced Manila’s first multi-sensory, immersive theatrical experience on Filipino folklore called “Lambana”. My work has been featured in both international and local media for print, online and TV!

Graphic Design

I’m also a freelance graphic and information designer. I’ve successfully branded several companies from the beauty, F&B and entertainment industries. I have also done patient form restructuring for a Texas trauma center, print magazine layouts for an international athletic apparel brand and online campaigns for non-profit organizations.

Voice ARTIST

By profession, I am a voice actor. I have worked on dozens of international and locally produced ads for TV, corporate videos, and social media. Some of my other recent notable clients include The Ford Foundation, ING Bank, Globe Telecom, TNT, TM Mobile, Eskinol, NIPS, Mang Juan, Chatime, and more. Here are some of my recent work, a learning series character dub for Nips Philippines. I play Orange!

I’m currently a talent under HIT Productions, Loudbox Studio, Soundesign Manila, and Voquent. My dreams as a voice actor include starring in an animated movie and an AAA Video Game.

WRITER

Currently, I’m a professional freelance writer with by-lines in tech, pet care, and lifestyle. You can check my portfolio here.

In my spare time, I review fitness studios across Asia, spend time with my cats, Grumpers and Ajani, and travel with my partner Wayne. So far, I have been to 20 countries and over 80 cities across four continents.
