5 Steps to Moving On To A Condo

For those who are starting their adult life with an intent to live away from home, there are many steps that should be taken to ensure the process is as smooth and as painless as possible. Here’s my comprehensive guide to moving out to a condominium.

1. Decide and calculate if you are ready to move into a condo.

There are many factors that you should consider when moving into a condo. It would be difficult if you’re halfway through your rental period when you realize that you can’t afford to pay rent, can’t stand the homesickness or just not ready to be financially independent. Once you’ve established that you are emotionally, physically, and financially ready to find your own place, then that’s the only time you look around.

2. Finding a condo to rent.

There are many techniques to find a place to rent. There are also many factors to consider when looking for a long term places to stay like accessibility, affordability, and safety. Be sure that you’ve properly evaluated a place before deciding to move in as rental contracts usually last until at least a year. The right kind of condo will fit your needs without breaking the bank.

3. Finding roommates.

Most people looking for a place to rent near their place of work can’t really afford to have a place all to themselves. Rent in accessible points near business districts are usually expensive and rent needs to be divided among roommates for it to be affordable. Bad roommates can make or break your experience living away from home, and you also need to play your part in not being a shit roommate. It also important to draft a Roommate Bible, which you can use for the first few months before settling into comfortable routines that work for you.

4. Buying furniture.

When looking for a place, a big question is if you want a furnished or unfurnished condo. There are pros and cons to either of them. However, no matter how furnished a condo you’ll always have personalized needs that might require new furniture. There are many ways to evaluate what kind of furniture you need and timing at what point you need to purchase them to be able to live comfortable.

5. Settling in.

Now that you’ve moved into to your new condo, your next step is getting it cleaned and all your furniture in the right place. If you don’t have your own car to move your things, there are many ways you can move your things from one point to another.

Moving out is a handful, but if done right can be the beginning of a great learning experience. If you have any other steps in mind that you think I missed out on, let me know in the comments so I can add them to the list!
