5 Factors In Choosing The Right Condo
Once you’ve decided to move out, finding a place to rent is the first step. Metro Manila is overrun by condos of multiple developers and it can be hard to decide which place is the right place for you. There are many things that you have to consider when choosing a place to rent. It might seem like a lot of work to do fulfill a long check list, but you’ll thank yourself afterwards when you’ve settled in a place that seems right for you.
1. Safety
Safety should always be the first thing on a person’s checklist when choosing to move out. Your life is infinitely more valuable than other aspect. There are many types of threats that you have to consider when doing safety checks for your condo that range from geographic, neighborhood, building and internal procedures.
2. Budget
The general rule of thumb is that you should have a fixed percentage of your income on housing, the recommended amount is about 30% of your gross monthly income (the amount your salary is before being taxed). If you can spend lower than this, then better. Ways to reduce your rent includes getting an unfurnished apartment or finding roommates to split with.
3. Proximity
With the insane traffic in Metro Manila, getting a condo far from your work is a stupid idea. If you’re going to spend money on living on your own, save yourself some time and energy and choose a place nearer your office. If you do choose to live further, make sure that there are steady forms of public transportation that are convenient to use. The best option is to live somewhere near enough to walk but far enough for you not to feel like you never left the office.
4. Longevity & Maintenance
The thing that they don’t tell you about renting all the time is that if the tenant abuses the condo before you and things coincidentally break when you’re the one renting, you’ll be the one to cover the maintenance fees. The way condos in general are maintained is also a big factor, as lack of care can lead to dangerous situations like elevators that get stuck, fire hazards, infectious diseases and moldy air that can give you respiratory problems.
5. Furnishing
When deciding to rent, you’ll always face the idea of getting either a furnished or unfurnished condo. There are pros can cons for deciding for either. You have to ask basic lifestyle questions like how long are you planning to rent, if you’ll have roommates and if you intend to live in a certain country for a long period of time.
